5 Tips On Smashing Your New Year’s Resolutions
5 Tips On Smashing Your New Year’s Resolutions
How many times have you prepared for a new
year with your list of aspirations, you attended a fancy vision board party in
hopes to excel in New year and before you could even make it to Martin L. King
Day, you’ve lost a sense of direction towards your goals? IT CAN’T JUST BE ME??
I’m not sure about you but I was fed up with being stuck in the same position.
Not sticking to my goals have stopped me from living the life I’ve always
envision for myself. Here’s 5 tips that are helping me smash my New Year
resolutions.
1.
BE CLEAR AND INTENTIONAL.
When thinking about all the goals that you want
to accomplish, be specific with each goal. For me, I would be too general about
my goals and it causes me to be all over the place! For example, if attending
school is one of your goals, here’s how you would write that. In 2020, I plan
on attending Grambling State University, where I will be majoring in Mass
Communication! Being specific about your goals will help you get a step closer
to achieving them.
2.
CONSISTENCY IS KEY
I know this is a “Easier Said Than Done”
tip but it’s the truth! Consistency is the foundation of tackling a goal. Create
yourself a routine or a schedule that will get you closer to your goal and chip
away at it until the goal is accomplished. Remember, it’s not an overnight
process but it’ll be worth it!
3.
LET YOUR CIRCLE HOLD YOU
ACCOUNTABLE
This is one of my favorite tips because
it’s a “2 for 1”! Let me explain! This tip is not only going to give you the
support you need but it’s also going to force you to re-evaluate the people in your
circle. The people within your circle care about what you’re working towards
and want to help you in any way possible. Now, if you have someone in mind and
you’re thinking to yourself, this person isn’t helpful and is very negative
when I speak about my goals, remove them from your circle immediately! The journey
is already difficult, it’s no need to carry around unnecessary weight.
4.
KEEP YOUR GOALS SOME WHERE
YOU CAN SEE THEM
Before I truly understood the benefits of
vision boards, I would laugh at people when they would invite me to their
vision board parties. Yeah, I was one of those individuals. I have grown and realized that I am someone who must see my goals on a daily basis. One of my goals on my vision board is to read one book per month. I'm currently reading Becoming by Michelle Obama and let's just say this book is what I need to start my new year off right! Having that goal on your wall is a
constant reminder of what you’re working towards and will keep you focus.
5.
CONFIDENCE IN YOUR YOURSELF,
LEVEL INFINITY
This is the most important rule. You must
believe in yourself when no one else sees your vision. These goals that you set
out to accomplish; many folks might not understand it. Just remember that this
is OK! Your vision wasn’t meant for others
to understand. It is your responsibility to carry out the vision. Soon enough, others
will see those ideas that they thought were impossible become your reality!
This year we’re doing things differently.
We’re setting our goal, sticking to them and knocking them out of the park! You
have everything you need in you to make this your reality. What are you waiting
for?
This was a really good read. No, you are not alone. I set goals for this year that didn’t surpass the first week. After reading this I don’t have to keep it that way, I’ll simply start them back. Eventually they will become habit and all I know. I will crave nothing less :)
